A sporty crossover that combines both the style and feel of the company’s sports cars with some of the practicality of the bigger Cayenne SUV. But for 2024 there’s a whole new type of Macan.<br/><br/>Calvin Kim, Product Spokesperson for Porsche North America, takes Forbes on a tour of the all-new, fully-electric Macan EV at the 2024 New York International Auto Show.<br/><br/>For Porsche, “performance is luxury,” and the Macan EV will be a scorcher, with 402 or 630 horsepower depending on the model. It will charge quickly thanks to its 800-volt architecture, which the automaker claims can go from 10 to 80% in just 21 minutes on a DC fast charger. Buzz poised to hit showroom floors later this year, VW Senior Product Planner Ryan Gavin gave Forbes a sneak peek at the 2024 New York International Auto Show. <br/><br/>Between its history-inspired body lines and optional two-tone paint schemes, the ID. Buzz will draw as much attention as modern exotic cars, and not just from aging Deadheads. While its exterior styling borrows heavily from the original VW Microbus, including the oversized “VW” front logo, rear roof pillar air vents, and boxy shape, the interior features an array of modern tech. Dual power-sliding doors and a power rear liftgate feature Volkswagen’s “Easy Open and Close” tech, meaning a simple swipe of your foot beneath the doors will cause them to open (assuming the keys are nearby).<br/><br/>Once inside passengers will find ambient lighting, an optional panoramic sunroof with electrochromic tinting (can go from clear to opaque at the touch of a button), and a standard 12.9-inch central touchscreen featuring wireless App-Connect technology and wireless device charging. Flexibility comes from a removable center console, a sliding second-row seat that also folds down or reclines, a removable third-row seat, and standard features like a heated steering wheel, heated, ventilated and massaging front seats, heated outboard second-row seats, and a nine-speak auto system (a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system is optional).<br/><br/>With its impressive standard equipment list, wide range of interior and exterior design options, and advanced technology, this electric van could have the same impact on Volkswagen’s brand as the 1998 New Beetle, meaning a flood of demand from both traditional and new VW customers, along with a level of cultural impact worthy of the ID. _how-china39s-richest-billionaires-made-their-money-in-2024.webp "As China’s stock market goes, so goes its billionaire population. And last year was not a good year for many Chinese stocks. As a result, the number of mainland Chinese billionaires on Forbes’ World’s Billionaires list fell for the third consecutive year. A total of 406 Chinese billionaires made the ranking, down from 495 a year ago and a record 626 in 2021. Continued fallout from the pandemic and geopolitical tension drove down stock prices and hurt economic growth in the world’s second largest economy. A deepening slump in the country’s property market also diminished fortunes.<br/><br/>Still, mainland China has the second largest number of billionaires globally, behind only the U.S., which has 813 billionaires this year.<br/><br/>Mainland China doesn’t include passport holders from Hong Kong or Macau, whom Forbes lists separately. Counting those billionaires, greater China has 473 members, down from 562 in 2023, 607 in 2022 and 698 in 2021.<br/><br/>The Forbes World’s Billionaires list is a snapshot of wealth using stock prices and exchange rates from March 8, 2024. Some people become richer or poorer within days of publication. We list individuals rather than multigenerational families who share fortunes, though we include wealth belonging to a billionaire’s spouse and children in certain cases, namely if that person is the founder of the fortune.
