Even the set-up is a thematic beauty, as this is more than just a train ride for Seok-woo and Su-an—it’s a journey into the past as a father tries to mend bridges and fix that which may be dead. When they get to the train, Sang-ho beautifully sets up his cast of characters, giving us beats with the conductors, a pair of elderly sisters, a husband and his pregnant wife, an obnoxious businessman (a vision of Seok-woo in a couple decades), and even a baseball team. A woman who’s clearly not well gets on the train just before it departs, and just as something else disturbing but generally unseen is happening in the station above the platform. Before you know it, the woman is taking out the jugular of a conductor, who immediately becomes a similarly mindless killing machine. These are zombies of the “28 Days Later” variety—fast, focused, and violent. They replicate like a virus, turning whole cars of the train into dead-eyed flesh-eaters in a matter of seconds. Sethuraman pleads with a woman he meets on the train named Sathyabhama to take care of his son and goes to face Athreya. He manages to trick Athreya into thinking he is carrying a bomb, prompting Athreya to quickly kill Sethuraman before jumping off the train to his apparent death.<br/><br/>26 years later, Manikandan (Mani) is now a talented watch mechanic who believes Sathyabhama to be his mother. It is revealed that Sethuraman placed the locked box containing his watch along with Mani, who grew up unaware of the contents of the box, as well as his true parents. Mani meets a girl Sathya and falls in love with her. Somewhere else, Athreya, who survived his fall and was in a coma, wakes up after 26 years and is shocked to find out that he is now paralysed from the waist down and significantly older. He is cared for by his trusted confidante, Mithran.<br/><br/>Through an incredible set of coincidences, the key to the box ends up in the hands of Mani, who unlocks the box and discovers the watch inside. He figures out its incredible capabilities including its ability to freeze time for 30 seconds, but questions the origin of the watch, and how it ended up in his possession.<br/><br/>Athreya, upset with the fact that he lost 26 years of his life and has become a paraplegic, obsesses over the watch and wishes to go back in time to relive his lost youth. After the Supreme Court denied Frank's motion in April 1915, his lawyers began lobbying for an administrative pardon. The most important information in the document is that the sitting governor of Georgia, John Marshall Slayton, was politically respected and was running for the United States Senate. Judge Morris argued that Slayton was a member of the law firm defending Frank, and that Slayton had been a name partner in the law firm of Rosser, Brandon, Slayton and Phillips since May 1913. The Cobb Democratic Executive Committee publicly asked Slayton to resign as governor or to assure the Georgians that they would not commute Frank's sentence, but Slayton also refused. Frank said he was to be hanged on June 22, 1915, and Slayton said he was to be succeeded by Nat Harris on June 26, 1915. Mr. Slayton could have granted a reservation and let Mr. Harris decide on the motion to reduce, but he and others felt that Mr. Harris would reject the motion. He studied other Court of Appeals' official rulings, trying to find a balance between Georgia's judicial integrity and mob rule.
